HeART of Halifax Festival

HeART of Halifax Festival

Lakeland Cultural Arts Community is excited to announce the first annual HeART of Halifax Festival, coming to Halifax Community College in Weldon, NC on Saturday, July 18 from 10 AM – 4 PM. This new summer celebration will bring together artists, performers, local vendors, and families for a day filled with creativity, community, and fun.

The festival will feature live performances on the main stage, including local theater groups, dance companies, choirs, and school bands, along with musical performances happening throughout the day. Visitors will be able to explore an artist alley to meet local artists, watch live art demonstrations, and take part in a community mural or mosaic project where everyone can add their own creative touch.

Families and children can enjoy a Kids’ Creative Corner with hands-on art projects, face painting, bubbles, and interactive activities, as well as “Chalk the Walk,” an Instrument Petting Zoo, and fun theatrical photo spots created by LCAC set designers and local artists. Guests can also explore a variety of art and product vendors, community booths, and a food truck court featuring local favorites.

Additional activities will include HCC Department Bingo, a fundraising raffle supporting future programming at Halifax Community College, and special festival merchandise.

As we continue to plan this exciting new community event, Lakeland Cultural Arts Community is seeking vendors, performers, sponsors, and volunteers to help make the HeART of Halifax Festival a success.

Vendor prices will range from $50-70, depending on the type of vendor. Discounts for youth vendors under 18! More details will be announced soon so be sure to check our website frequently or follow us on Facebook.

The Glory of Christmas

The Lake Gaston Singers Present: The Glory of Christmas by Lloyd Larson

Experience the true spirit of Christmas with inspiring music, heartfelt laughter, and carols you’ll love to sing along with!

The Glory of Christmas…a cantata in story and song by Lloyd Larson on December 13th at the Acorn Center. The 6:00 performance includes secular pieces by several cantata members along with Steve Hyman. The first half concludes with an audience sing-a-long of holiday tunes! After intermission, The Glory of Christmas will be presented with percussion, flute, keyboard and euphonium to accompany the 52 singers. Diane Colin is conducting for the fourth consecutive year.
